Restoration Hardware, who I love for their soft furnishings and cool gadgets, is having a big rug sale now through July 21. You can find some great deals on their entire assortment of hand-knotted, hand-tufted, tibetan and natural rugs. I love floor coverings that have a unique look and don’t seem mass-produced. I really like their Tibetan styles, which feature beautiful floral motifs that work equally well with traditional or contemporary home decor.

The Tapestry Tibetan Rug is my favorite, especially in the dark brown with the lighter color motif (pictured above). It’s on sale for $1039 - $2479 (normally $1299 - $3099) depending on the size you order. I think it would look great with our Green and Blue Modern Floral Decorative Pillow (pictured on right), which has a similar pattern and would play nicely off the brown in the rug.

We got an email today from West Elm about their armless sectional and how it’s now available in leather. While the original sectional was nice, it is much more appealing in the dark brown leather finish. It’s a little on the expensive side (most leather sofas are) but it would make a wonderful addition to any modern living room. I like the fact that it has metal legs — they look clean while keeping the couch up off the floor, so it’s less of a dust trap. The leather is treated to repel water, which might make this a good couch if you have kids in your home.

They show it with a snakeskin-inspired pillow, but I think it would look even better with a few of our Ocean Blue decorative pillows. The chocolate brown and pale blue color combination is one of my favorites because it’s contemporary yet retro at the same time. And the quilted, 3D look of these pillows would contrast nicely with the sleek, smooth texture of the leather. Plus, our pillows use fabric made from recycled plastic bottles — how eco-friendly! You can order them as complete pillows or just purchase the covers to use your own pillow insert. Use an organic bamboo insert and this could be the most “green” pillow ever!
